Though some residents might think it’s still a little too early to start the holiday shopping season, volunteers at Riverbank’s United Methodist Church staffed their annual Holiday Bazaar and Soup Luncheon this past week.

Staged at the church’s Third and Atchison streets location, the event was presented on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26.

Offered for sale were a wide variety of crafts and other artsy items, topped off with an opportunity to enjoy a wide menu of soups and desserts offered for enjoying a hot, hearty lunch and sweet treat.

Although it might seem a little early to be thinking about the Christmas season, in truth, last weekend marked just two months remaining until Christmas. That news hasn’t escaped the notice of retailers large and small across the country.

And all this, just ahead of Halloween’s celebration of all things confectionary.
