City Tree Trimming, Watering Schedules

City crews have been hard at work the last couple of weeks, trimming trees in the downtown area. At the same time, residents receiving their city garbage and water bills received instructions in the mailing for the upcoming seasonal change in residential watering schedules.

Residents are told to mark their calendars for the change, coming on April 1, for the switch to the summer schedule, which will remain in effect until Oct. 31 this year. They say it will bring an additional water day for a total of three each week.

The notice says even-numbered addresses will be able to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m. Odd-numbered addresses get to increase to Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays during the same hours.

Officials note that spring can still bring showers, and to keep in mind that landscape irrigation is prohibited within 48 hours after a measurable rainfall regardless of the above mentioned schedule.
