Riverbank’s seventh annual Beyond Earth Day will be held on Saturday, April 27 at Jacob Myers Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This event is free to the community and will be filled with family fun. There will be several vendors with information and activities. Parking is limited at Jacob Meyers Park so StaRT will have a shuttle bus available to transport guests from Galaxy Theatres.

Coordinator Dotty Nygard stated that they have more kid activities this year. The rubber duck race on the river is back and will have five heats. Local boy scout troops will be tour guides on a nature walk and there will be an adventure camp for the kids.

There is also a Riverbank Beyond Earth Day Youth Contest planned, with a couple of different categories offered.

Category One is a Poster Contest with age groups of 5-6, 7-9, 10-13, 14-18.

Posters need to be submitted by 1 p.m. at the “Beyond Earth Day 2013” festivities.

Winners will be announced at closing of the event.

Category Two is a “Green Project” for a youth group, class or youth civic organization.

Projects need to be submitted and set up by 11 a.m. the day of the event. Winners will be announced at the closing of the event.

Themes for each must be “green” or how we can make our planet a better place to live by recycling, reusing, reducing, replenishing, and rethinking how we can take care of Mother Nature.
