Teen Fest Saturday

Riverbank’s Parks and Recreation Department is planning a ‘Teen Fest’ for this Saturday, Sept. 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Teen Center, 3600A Santa Fe St., in Riverbank for local teens between the ages of 13 to 18. There is no charge to attend; officials want to offer a fun afternoon of activities and showcase the teen center for those it is designed for – teens – in the community. They are encouraging all to attend. Festivities will include a mechanical bull, trampoline, a dance contest, refreshments, and music provided by DJ Laser.

Meanwhile, teens and other community volunteers are needed for the upcoming Haunted Hayride, the annual Halloween spooky event scheduled this year on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26. Parks and Recreation coordinates the event and will be having a Hayride meeting at Jacob Myers Park on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m.

Anyone interested in helping out is encouraged to attend this planning meeting. Four friends per site can create a ‘scare site’ at Jacob Myers Park. Participants must be able to have a scare site for both days and have enough people to adequately staff the site for the duration of the event. Parks and rec officials said there will be a monetary prize offered this year for the best site.
