The Riverbank High School juniors, Class of 2018, hosted a volleyball game to raise money for their upcoming prom slated for the end of April. The athletes, one team made up of varsity basketball players and the other from varsity soccer, engaged in three matches with the winning team – taking two out of three – receiving the “Battle of the Boys” trophy. Leadership decked out the gym with posters for both teams and the battle lasted about an hour and a half. Prior to the game, participants were allowed to practice.
“They were a great group to watch and the boys really got into it,” stated Gina Tonarelli, Activities Director/Counselor. “Varsity basketball won the first match and varsity soccer won the second match. The third match was won by varsity soccer, making them the overall champions and winners of the trophy.”
Tonarelli expressed that the junior class did a great job organizing the event and planning everything to the very last detail, even an information meeting beforehand.
“Overall it was a success and helped them raise a good chunk of change for their prom budget,” said Tonarelli.
