Clayton Wallen, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 29 with his family by his side.

He was born to Les and Katey Wallen in Keota, Okla. He grew up in Chowchilla and lived in Riverbank for 50 years.

Mr. Wallen served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946 and was a life member of the VFW where he served as Commander and Quartermaster for Post 6420.

While living in Riverbank for many years, he served his community well. He served as a board member for the Riverbank School District for 11 years. Also, he was the player agent for the Riverbank Little League for many years.

He managed the Riverbank Oil Company in Riverbank.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family and friends. He will be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Violet; daughter, Alice (Tom); sons, Gary (Carrie), Dan, Chris (Gemma); daughter, Christine; daughter-in-law, Nancy; sister, Oleta Law; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thom; brother, Kenny; and his parents, Leslie and Katey.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Riverbank Memorial Chapel, 3131 Santa Fe St., Riverbank. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4 also at the chapel, followed by burial at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon. There will be a reception following at Riverbank Masonic Lodge, 3139 Santa Fe, Riverbank.
