Hester Garrison, 96, died Sunday, Jan. 6 at her daughter Gail Halstead's home after enjoying a wonderful holiday season with her family.

She was born in Arkansas, spending most of her life in Oakdale.

She enjoyed filling her days with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She valued time spent with her family. She was known to regularly impart a wealth of life experience and knowledge to those around her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mrs. Garrison was a diehard Oakland A's fan and a San Francisco 49ers fan, rarely missing a game. She loved country music, with George Strait being her favorite artist.

Her most treasured holiday pastime was baking her traditional pies. She loved living life.

She is survived by her children, Wanda May of Idaho, Lester (Jean) Henderson of Las Vegas, Nev., Wayne (Pam) Henderson of Tehachapi, Gail Halstead of Oakdale, Bud (Sharon) Henderson of Oakdale; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Garrison; grandsons, Jimmy A. Halstead, Michael Henderson; and great-granddaughter, Ashley Henderson.

Per her request, private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her name to Community Hospice.
