John Ross, 83, of Oakdale died Saturday, July 26 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House.
Mr. Ross was a native of Texas. He lived in the Oakdale-Riverbank area for 56 years.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was a police officer for 20 years.
He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Riverbank.
He is survived by his wife, Sonja Ross of Oakdale; four children; five stepchildren; one sister; 28 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1 at the Church of God of Prophecy, Riverbank. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at the church. Burial will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella.
