Our Heavenly Father welcomed Louanne “Lucy” Hoffmann home on February 8, 2022, at 6:55 p.m., while Lucy’s husband, Larry Hoffmann, daughters, Michelle Cooley and Rica Allen, and sister, Jo Cullins, prayed and comforted one another at Memorial Medical Hospital in Modesto, CA.
Lucy was born in Orange, CA, on June 28, 1954, to Lewis Cullins and Shirley Ann Wendt. She had seven siblings: Susan Ayala, Gilbert Allan, Jo Cullins, and four preceded her in death, Starla Rinaldi, Carl Wendt, Roger Allan, and Virgil Cullins.
Lucy married Larry Hoffmann, on August 18, 1979. They moved from the Bay Area to the Valley in 1981, settling in Copperopolis and then Waterford in 1989. Their 43 years of marriage brought blessings of family: two daughters, Michelle Cooley and Rica Allen, and six grandchildren, Zac Hoffmann, Sydney Cooley, Jordyn Cooley, Cruz Allen, Isabelle Allen, and Faith Allen.
Lucy enjoyed her 38-year career as optician and office manager for Dr. Patton and Dr. Boyd at Valley View Optometry. She ran an efficient and upbeat office, often smiling and laughing with patients and staff.
Lucy spread joy at home, too. She loved to gather family for celebrations, Christmas being her favorite. She made her grandkids unique birthday cakes, and prepared everyone’s favorite meals. Favorite pastimes included: quilting, Hawaii trips, and mornings with the Lord spent in prayer, Bible reading, and journaling. She fervently prayed for everyone who crossed her path.
