Rosalie Ann (Lindquist) Osman of Oakdale died of natural causes on Monday May 1, 2023 in her home.
Rosalie was born in her home on November 16, 1939 in Brentwood, CA to parents Harold and Delores Lindquist, and was greeted by her sister, Phyllis (who named her) and brother, Hal. After her mother’s death- when Rosalie was 11- she went to live in Stockton with her sister, Phyllis, and Phyllis’ husband, John Totten. She also spent time in Santa Cruz with her father. While being raised by her sister, she welcomed nieces, Robin and Jayna and nephew Kern into the family.
Rosalie attended schools in Stockton and met her husband, Don Osman (who preceded her in death), while attending Stockton College. After they were married, they settled in Lodi while Don finished college. Their first three children, Jay, Jodi and Tod, were born in Lodi. After Don received his teaching degree, Don and Rosalie moved to Oakdale where they welcomed Eric and David into the family and became firmly ensconced in that community. While Don was a high school teacher at Oakdale High for nearly four decades, Rosalie was a homemaker and worked at Oakdale Village Drug Store, before pursuing her lifelong career of Interior Design. Her creativity has been seen in homes and storefronts and at events throughout Oakdale and surrounding areas for years! She later graduated from UC Stanislaus with a degree in Master Gardening and with her dirt covered hands she has touched many lives with her creativity and knowledge.
As an adult volunteer, Rosalie served too many people to count. She worked with the Adult Literacy program, Friends of the Oakdale Library, Garden Clubs, and the Soroptimist Club. She decorated Christmas trees to be sold to support Hospice. She was involved in any gardening project she could find, was on the Oakdale Planning Commission, I Love Oakdale, Astro Foundation, and certainly many more community activities. And most assuredly, her Bridge Club was a huge part of her playful life as well!
Rosalie is survived by her sons, Tod, Eric and David; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Also, her beloved sister, Phyllis Ferguson and nieces Robin Precissi and Jayna Powell and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her husband and children, Jay and Jodi.
Rosalie will be remembered at a private family celebration. Anyone who would like to celebrate or memorialize her is invited to make a donation to The Friends of the Oakdale Library or Hospice.
Those who knew Rosalie, know that the best way to honor her would be to plant something (ANYTHING), donate to or volunteer at any organization that improves the community or the lives of those in it, and VOTE! She will be so missed and will surely live on in all of us who loved her so dearly and choose to follow in her footsteps.
