Ruben Martinez Romero, Sr. of Riverbank died Thursday, July 17 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House.

Mr. Romero was a native of El Paso, Texas and lived in Riverbank for five years.

He had worked as a bumper repairman for 42 years.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Seniors of St. Frances, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Elida S. Romero of Riverbank; children, E. Cynthia Gonzalez of Modesto, Ruben D. Romero and Richard D. Romero, both of Newark, Robert D. Romero of Fremont; sisters, Julia Cardenas of Madera, Rosario Ibarra of Texas, Martha Ibarra of Fresno; brothers, Gilbert Romero and Manuel Ibarra, both of Fresno; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23 with a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, Riverbank.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 24 at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Escalon.

Oakdale-Riverbank Memorial Chapels in charge of arrangements.
