Ruth, 87, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Modesto, California. Ruth was born to Samuel and Metha (Gillaspy) Thomas on the outskirts of Modesto on March 31, 1929, and lived in the surrounding area until her marriage to Raymond Park in 1953.
Together they embarked on 20 years of traveling from home to home during Ray’s Navy career. They returned to live in this area in 1975 and settled in their present home, their 50th, in Escalon in 1977. Throughout the years, Ruth loved to sing and to teach children about the love of God. Ruth was a member of Trinity Church in Escalon. She is survived by her sons, Steven (and Donna) Park of Escalon and Richard (and Arlene) Park of Oakdale, as well as four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray, after 56 short years of marriage, and by her sister, Margarette Marconett.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 20, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Church, 1900 California Street in Escalon. In loving memory, donations to the Youth Center Project of Trinity Church would be appreciated.
