The Riverbank Parks and Recreation Department kicked off a preview of the coming summer swim season at the pool on Saturday afternoon this past weekend, with a free ‘Pool Party’ for residents to enjoy recreational swimming.

The May 24 event ran from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with families, youngsters, even some teenagers enjoying the cool water of the pool during the 80+ degree temperatures. Parks and Rec officials said they considered the event a ‘soft opening,’ with the regular season set to begin soon. Opening day is formally scheduled on Monday, June 2.

Admission fee for the Recreational Swim and the Lap Swim will be $3, payable at the pool office.

Seasonal swim passes will be available at $30 for individuals, $100 for a family of four and $20 for each additional family member.

Officials note that a swim pass does not guarantee admission to the pool, if it is closed, at maximum capacity or experiencing maintenance issues.

All people using the pool are required to wear appropriate swimwear. Street clothing is not permitted in the water.

Recreational swimming is held from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with lap swimming 11 a.m. to noon, also on Fridays.

On Saturdays, the pool is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
