The first in-person Team Captain Meeting of the season is scheduled on Wednesday, June 9 for the Relay For Life of Greater Stanislaus County.
The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. and will be hosted at the North Modesto Church of God, 1918 Sherwood, Modesto.
This year will feature an in-person Relay, scheduled for Oct. 9 and 10 at John Thurman Field in Modesto. The individual Relay events of Modesto, Turlock and Oakdale-Riverbank-Escalon-Waterford have joined forces to become one large regional event, featuring teams from all those communities.
Theme for the 2021 Relay is ‘Wish Upon A Cure’ and anyone interested in learning more about the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event is encouraged and welcome to attend the June 9 meeting.
Monthly meetings will rotate between the communities, with plans for the July gathering in Oakdale.
Attendees are asked to bring team member registration information, cancer survivor information, suggestions for theme laps and money to purchase luminaria bags.
After a shortened version in 2019 and no formal Relay event in 2020, organizers voted to return this year to the full 24-hour format, with opening ceremonies on Saturday morning, Oct. 9 followed by a full day and evening of activities, overnight fun and the closing ceremonies on Sunday morning, Oct. 10.
