It will be the No. 3 seed Riverbank Lady Bruins hosting the No. 10 seed Escalon Lady Cougars on the basketball court Tuesday night, Feb. 21.
The setting is huge; winner of this semifinal Division 4 basketball playoff contest moves on to play for the Section crown on Friday.
Tip off time is 7 p.m. in Riverbank, with the longtime Trans-Valley League rivals meeting up in the postseason, both having won their first two round games. Whatever team wins Tuesday night will take on the winner of the No. 1 Colfax-No. 4 Marysville match up, also being played on Feb. 21. The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
Escalon – finishing third overall in the TVL – has been on the road, winning at No. 7 Capital Christian, 58-44, on Feb. 14 and pulling off the 48-46 upset at No. 2 Calaveras on Feb. 16. Riverbank, second in league play this season, has enjoyed the comfort of their home court, upending Waterford 73-27 in the first-round game Feb. 14, then winning 56-40 over No. 6 Liberty Ranch in the Feb. 16 quarterfinals.
Both local squads, with two playoff victories, also qualify for the Nor Cals, which are played following the conclusion of the Section action.
