Riverbank Library, Community Celebrate Summer Reading
new riv library

In keeping with the Stanislaus County Library’s 2019 Summer Reading Challenge theme, “It’s Showtime at Your Library,” the Riverbank Library is offering craft programs with a performance-themed element.

“Each month we’ve done something different related to the theme ‘Showtime at Your Library.’ July will be the music month,” said Vicky Holt, Riverbank Library supervisor.

Children can make their own microphones on Tuesday, July 9 at 3:30 p.m. The library will provide cardboard tubes and assorted craft materials for crafters to make and decorate unique, show-stopping microphones.

On Tuesday, July 16 at 3:30 p.m. the monthly Art Lab for children will have a musical performance twist. Children will play musical chairs while they paint.

“When the music stops, they’ll paint on the painting in front of them. It should be fun having everyone paint on shared paintings,” added Holt.

Teens and adults can make their own guitar picks out of upcycled gift cards on Tuesday, July 30 at 3:30 p.m. They can then turn their guitar picks into jewelry.

The Riverbank Library is at 3442 Santa Fe St. For more information, contact Holt at 209-869-7008. Information on regularly occurring library programs can be found at www.stanislauslibrary.org, under the “Events and Classes” tab.
