Run For The Cheese Returning To Festival
cheese run

The annual ‘Run for the Cheese’ returns to the neighborhoods surrounding the Galaxy 12 Theatres in Riverbank this weekend. It is one of the first activities during the Cheese and Wine Exposition, which is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8 and 9.

Since 1977, the Riverbank event has offered a small-town race, building an ongoing community legacy.

The 5K walk/run along with the 10K run both travel through the shady, quiet neighborhoods behind the theatre complex, with the 5K including a bit of a roll, and the 10K has a bonus hill, according to organizers. They say the 5K is baby stroller and walker friendly.

Both races begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, east of the Galaxy parking lots.

And they note there will be no port-a-potties required for the event, since the Galaxy will open early for access to their permanent restrooms.

There will also be water and aid stations along both courses.

Complete information can be found at www.active.com/riverbank-ca/running/distance-running-races/riverbank-run-for-cheese-2022.

Registration on race day will begin at 6:15 a.m. on the east side of the complex and closes promptly at 7:50 a.m.

All participants will receive a medal.

In addition, there will be a one-mile Youth Race, for those 17 and under, that starts and finishes at the Galaxy, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
