Senior Nutrition Program Hosts Coupon Distribution

The Area Agency on Aging has received the Senior Farmers Market coupon booklets for distribution to seniors 60 and older that live in Stanislaus County and have a limited income ($1,600/month or less for an individual or $2,159 for two).

Seniors are entitled to coupons only once per year. Each booklet contains a total of $20 of coupons in 10 $2 coupons. They are used like cash only at Certified Farmers Markets - in Oakdale, Riverbank and Modesto - to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables or herbs.

This is a farmer subsidy so coupons must be redeemed by mid-November.

Coupons are given on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.

The coupons will be available Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Riverbank Farmer's Market, Community Center Park on Santa Fe between Sixth and Seventh streets; Thursday, Aug. 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oakdale Farmer's Market, 100 block of North Third between E and F streets and on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the downtown Modesto market, on 16th Street between H and I, behind the library.
