The City of Riverbank and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office-Riverbank Police Services are joining together to help kick off the Labor Day Weekend holiday celebration by hosting a Drive-thru BBQ.

The ‘Tactical Culinary Unit’ at the sheriff’s office will be doing the cooking, said officials, and the free food and drinks will be distributed at Pioneer Park on Friday, Sept. 4, beginning at noon.

Pioneer Park is located at the corner of First and High streets, immediately adjacent to the Scout Hall. The street address is 3017 High St., Riverbank.

“Friday September 4, the City of Riverbank and Riverbank Police Services are hosting a Community BBQ to give back to the community and to provide a warm meal to those in need,” explained Riverbank Police Chief Ed Ridenour. “Vice Mayor Luis Uribe and I originally wanted to host a Community BBQ so we could meet with the residents of Riverbank and get to know them on a more personal level; however, with large gathering restrictions we decided to do a drive-thru style event.”

Officials note the drive-thru nature of the event will allow for responsible social distancing for those participating.

There is no cost to attend; all are welcome.
