In a busy week, members of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department – Riverbank Police Services were involved in several special activities and investigative efforts.
Among the community outreach, visits were made to a number of schools as part of the Red Ribbon Week observance.
On Tuesday, Oct. 24, School Resource Officer (SRO) Johnson, Community Resource Deputy (CRD) Buck and Deputy Orr stopped at California Elementary School. The sheriff’s personnel, along with firefighters, did a presentation for students and deputies also handed out stickers to the youngsters.
In addition, CRD Buck and deputies Tovar and Orr made a visit that same day to Riverbank Language Academy to meet with students. CRD Buck and Detective Rosas attended a Red Ribbon Week program at Mesa Verde Elementary School on Oct. 26. They interacted with the students and handed out stickers.
Thursday, Oct. 26 was an outreach day, as CRD Buck, representatives of the Probation Department and the Stanislaus County Care Team were at the Stanislaus River near Atchison and Seventh streets providing assistance to the unhoused population.
Detectives conducted an Organized Retail Crime operation on Oct. 26, said authorities. Working with Loss Prevention agents from retailers at Crossroads Shopping Center to combat theft from retailers, the operation resulted in the arrest of nine people.
Merchandise was returned to the respective stores and five vehicles were towed.
Traffic Deputies conducted a DUI Checkpoint on Claribel Road on Oct. 27, making a few arrests.
CRD Buck, Detectives and Traffic Deputies assisted the Army Corp of Engineers by providing security as the river cleanup at Seventh Street and Atchison was being done on Monday, Oct. 30.
