Students fare well at county’s Occupational Olympics

The 38th Annual Stanislaus County Occupations Olympics and Careers Exposition was hosted March 14, 2024 at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in Turlock. Students from high schools throughout the county, including Oakdale and Riverbank, took part. Several students from OHS placed in multiple categories among the 900 students from Stanislaus County high schools in 15 competitive events. One Riverbank students was in the top three in an event as well. In addition to the competitive events, 45 business/industry representatives exhibited and spoke to students during the Career Expo.

 

The following are the OHS students who placed first through third and the event in which they placed:

Animal Husbandry: Anika Garrett, First Place; Cailee Flood, Third Place.

Medical Occupations: Bastian Ancheta, First Place; Niel Ongkingco, Second Place and Calliope Holeman, Third Place.

Pitsco Drag Racing - Light Weight: Jacob Nickolauson, Second Place.

Pitsco Drag Racing - Heavy Weight Class: Drake Herrera, Third Place.

Pitsco Drag Racing - Design: Miguel Hernandez, First Place.

Robotics Technology: Joseph Yakligian and Tyler Raff, First Place; Aiden Vargas and Ryan Lo, Second Place.

Salad Preparation and Display: Diana Godinez, First Place and Tyler Haun, Second Place.

Small Engine Technology: Drake Herrera, Third Place.

Video Game Design: Austin Cole, Colby Crofts and Luis Gasper, Second Place.

 

For Riverbank High School, Samara Wilkerson took home a Third Place showing in the Salad Preparation and Display category.
