The Sweetheart Stroll for Valentine's Day drew several dozen couples to enjoy wine, food and music in downtown Riverbank on a warm Saturday evening, Feb. 12. The Chamber of Commerce and the City of Riverbank sponsored the event.

"I would have liked to see a few more stores open. A couple were not. But it was festive," said Karen Bickford, project chairperson and owner of Designs by Karen.

"There were not so many people as last year. But it was a good event," added Debbi Libhart of Serendipity Day Spa.

Prize winners in the various drawings during the evening included Thomas Schierholz for the day spa for two with massage, facial and aromatherapy donated by Serendipity; Art Benitez for the roses, champagne and chocolates donated by Designs by Karen; Steven Madrigal for the $50 gift certificate to Cool Hand Luke's restaurant; and Dudley Young for a gift certificate to Sno-White Drive-In restaurant. Also given out were two movie tickets donated by Galaxy Theatre.

Visitors could also enjoy a downtown drive in an antique horse-drawn carriage guided by Tom Fraser of the Quartz Mountain Carriage Company.

A small band including Ross Hoskins' wife Denise, daughter Jenny and a friend played on the sidewalk in front of the Pizza Plus restaurant that Ross Hoskins manages in the downtown area.
