Hoping to turn creativity into cash, Jacob Ibanez of Riverbank has crafted an ice cream, with a little aid from the Crossroads Cold Stone Creamery, which puts him in the running for a $30,000 prize.
A 15-year-old attending Big Valley Christian Academy in Modesto, Ibanez is entered in the nationwide iMix America contest, which calls on all ice cream lovers to sample their favorites and cast their vote for the best.
Ibanez's concoction, which he named "Simply Must Have It" is a chocolate ice cream with caramel, roasted almonds, and Twix candy bar bits as ingredients.
Local residents are invited to try it and cast their vote for Ibanez and his signature ice cream so he stays in competition, said the Riverbank franchise co-owner Leonard Hansen.
