Spring Break wasn't much of a break for the Riverbank High School track team.

On Friday, several members of the track team traveled to University of California at Davis to compete in the Woody Wilson Invitational.

'This is a prestigious meet which draws kids from all over the state and from Nevada," said Bruin track coach Monte Wood, adding" the Bruin runners represented themselves well against the larger schools of Northern California."

There were two RHS records broken at the meet, the girls' pole vault and the girls 4x800 meter relay race.

Kasey Wool broke the school record in the pole vault by clearing 11 feet. The previous record was 10-9. She placed third in the competition.

The girls 4x800 relay team also smashed the school record. The previous record was 10:20 set last year at the same meet. The girls hard work paid off again Friday as they shattered the record by 16 seconds, running 10:04 to place sixth.

Members of the record breaking team were Georgina Arnold, Maritza Garcia, Brittany Harrison and Bianca Melchor.

Harrison also came within two seconds of setting a new school record in the 1,600 meter run. It is only a matter of time before that record falls too, said Wood. Earlier this year, Harrison broke the 3,200 meter record.

Ralphie Stevens placed seventh in the triple jump with a personal best of 42 feet 6 inches.

Kelly Clancey was one of only two freshmen to qualify for the girls triple jump competition. She didn't disappoint either. She placed seventh in the triple jump as a freshman.

"That is a remarkable feat," said Wood. "She will break the school record this year in that event."

Overall, it was a great night of competition as Riverbank athletes continued to show they can compete with anybody in the section, he added.

This week's track and field meet is slated for today, April 21, in Hilmar. Riverbank is scheduled to compete in the Ceres Invitational on Friday.
