Five Local Baseball Players Suit Up For Rotary Classic

Oakdale and Riverbank will be sending players to the 30th annual Stanislaus County High School All-Star Baseball Classic, set for Saturday, June 8 in Turlock. Rotary Club of Modesto Sunrise presents the game and corporate sponsors are Play It Again Sports Modesto and Gene Carrillo, Jr., advisor, Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc.

Three Mustangs and two Bruins were tapped for the contest, with both schools taking part in the All-Star game as members of the visiting Blue team.

Seniors Alex Daoud, shortstop/outfielder; Jacob Solorio, first baseman/pitcher; and Josh Garcia, pitcher, of Oakdale have been selected for the all-star contest. From Riverbank, senior Preston Davidson, outfielder, and junior Bryce Martin, second base/outfielder, were named to the roster.

Other schools represented on the Blue team are Pitman, Beyer, Central Catholic, Davis, Ceres, Hughson and Modesto. Manager is Andy Walker of Pitman.

Gold team schools are Waterford, Modesto Christian, Enochs, Turlock, Orestimba, Gregori, Turlock Christian, Big Valley and Central Valley. Manager is Mike Vivo, assistant is Jessie Rios, both of Waterford.

The game will be played at CSU Stanislaus – Warrior Baseball Field in Turlock. Gates open at 5 p.m., the game starts at 7:05 p.m.

Proceeds will be donated to support the annual game and participating small school baseball programs. There will also be prize giveaways in between innings. There will be awards and recognition for players after the game.
