Bruin Athletes Busy Before Spring Break

The week before spring break at Riverbank High School saw a flurry of activities on the home fields, with baseball, soccer and softball in action. Following is a brief recap of the events.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

Lady Bruin junior varsity soccer lost at Mountain House, 5-0, on Tuesday, March 31.

Varsity Lady Bruin soccer lost at Modesto Christian, 4-0, on Tuesday, March 31, and lost 1-0 to the Lady Huskies of Hughson at home on Thursday, April 2. They battled through a scoreless first half before the visiting Hughson team put one in the back of the net in second half play to steal away with the victory.

Their next game will be on Tuesday, April 14 at Hilmar, and the Lady Bruins host Escalon on April 16, after spring break.

 

BASEBALL

Bruin varsity boys baseball hosted Hughson on Tuesday, March 31, winning with a six-run surge in the sixth inning, 6-5, surprising the visitors. They travelled to Hughson on Thursday, April 2, losing to the Huskies 13-3.

This week, the baseball teams were to play in the Art McRae Tournament at Central Valley High School in Ceres. Games were scheduled each day, Monday through Thursday, April 6-9.

 

SOFTBALL

Riverbank’s Lady Bruins traveled to Oakhurst to take on the Yosemite Lady Badgers on Thursday, March 26, coming away with a 9-5 win in non-league play. On Tuesday, March 30, they hosted Ripon, losing 4-0.

Next, RHS travels to Hughson, on April 15, then host Hilmar on April 17, after spring break.
