Sports action continues both home and away, as Riverbank High teams prepare for conference action soon.

This year the Trans-Valley League, of which Riverbank is a member, has a new alignment, with the addition of the Mountain House Mustangs. As it is a brand new high school, Mountain House will not be fielding a complete set of teams this school year, but is expected to start becoming competitive in the 2015-16 sessions.

The new league lineup will consist of Escalon, Ripon Christian, Hughson, Ripon, Modesto Christian (except for basketball), Hilmar, Mountain House and Riverbank.

Following is a recap of recent non-league action for some of the Bruin squads.

In action on Wednesday, Sept. 17, on the home court, RHS lost to visiting Beyer in three games in a non-league volleyball match.

Lady Bruin volleyball was to continue past press time for The News on Tuesday, Sept. 23, hosting Amador, then traveling to the weekend’s Oakdale Varsity Invitational (with the JV team going to a tournament in Pacheco), then hosting Gustine on Monday, Sept 29.

The girls golf team was to participate in the Mid Year Tournament at Micke Grove Golf Links in Stockton on Monday, Sept. 22, then travel to Orestimba on Thursday, Sept, 23 and to Linden on Thursday, Sept. 25 as they continue with a full slate of Valley Foothill League North action.

The football Bruins took a 48-28 loss at the hands of the Linden Lions on the road on Friday, Sept. 19 and have a bye this Friday (Sept. 26) before traveling to Livermore Valley Prep for a Saturday game at 3 p.m. on Oct. 4.

JV game time is at 1 p.m. for the Oct. 4 road game.
