Rain Impacts Athletic Schedule

Only a handful of contests were gotten in during a week that featured some much-needed rain, and the Bruin teams may also have to battle the elements this week.

On Wednesday, March 26, the varsity soccer girls traveled to Hughson and took a shutout loss, the host Huskies pummeling the goal while not allowing the Lady Bruins to get anything going offensively.

Baseball also was able to get in both its games this week, hosting Orestimba on March 26 and losing that game, 7-0. Orestimba scored a run in the third, five in the fourth and one more in the fifth, rapping out nine hits on the day. On Friday, March 28, the Bruins traveled to Newman for the rematch and the host Orestimba squad allowed a run but scored six themselves, defeating Riverbank in that contest, 6-1.

Golfers met up with Escalon but do not have enough players to be considered a team, taking a loss by disqualification.

Softball was scheduled to take on Hughson and golfers were at Orestimba on Tuesday, April 1 (weather permitting) after The News went to press.

Other games on the schedule this week include soccer at home hosting Escalon on Wednesday, April 2, baseball at Hilmar and tennis at Orestimba, also on Wednesday. Thursday the softball team will be at Modesto Christian, track at Ripon and golf hosting Hilmar, while Friday brings baseball at home against Hilmar, soccer at Orestimba, tennis home against Hughson and track and field at the Stanford Invitational.
