This past week saw the Riverbank varsity girls volleyball team pushed to the five-game limit but they ultimately fell to visiting Hughson, with a three games to two final score. And the last frame was up for grabs through the end, but the Lady Huskies were finally victorious, with a 17-15 win.
With the score book showing a 2-2 tie at the end of four, that final contest needed just 15 points, but had to be two more than the opponent. In all, the five-game match ran close to two and a half hours.
The first ended 25-23 in favor of Hughson, with RHS leading early, then the score edging back and forth.
In the second game, the Lady Bruins came on stronger, resulting in a 25-16 win. The third game was much tighter, with the score seesawing back and forth, to a 25-29 loss for Riverbank.
In the fourth series, RHS came out strong again and finished with a 25-15 win, leaving a 2-2 game tie for the match.
The fifth game was necessary, though shorter, but it was extended, ending in a 15-17 loss for the Lady Bruins.
Riverbank was to host two teams this week, Escalon on Monday, Oct. 20, and Ripon on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
