The challenges that await each team in the Trans-Valley League upon the opening of the spring athletic schedule are as constant as California sunshine.

In any of the several sports, from soccer to softball and from track to tennis, there is never a guarantee as to who will be the league's most dominant force. Yet, even in the midst of one of the area's most challenging conferences, the Riverbank Bruins put together one solid spring sports season.

The Bruins enjoyed dominance throughout the track and field season, sending their retiring head coach Ron Hebert out with another TVL title in boys and girls track and field.

The Lady Bruins soccer program did not close out the 2008 campaign with the coveted TVL championship, but this season's close-knit group did muster up one of the most exciting victories of the entire season.

With more losses than a person can keep on two hands, the Lady Bruins overcame the odds and put it all together in a victory over Ripon Christian High.

The baseball program's fight was one of the school's most challenging athletic seasons. First year head coach Ismael Mercado not only had the difficulty of fielding a competitive Bruin ball team, but he also had to deal with the likes of Escalon High and a new and improved Ripon Christian squad. The squad was unable to grab a TVL victory, but the players fought tooth-and-nail for the respect they received for never quitting throughout a challenging season.
