The Riverbank High girls soccer team has made tremendous strides throughout the season and that fact was evident as the Lady Bruins fell just short in their Trans-Valley League contest against the Modesto Christian Crusaders on Thursday.

Riverbank was able to put a lopsided loss to the Ripon Indians out of their minds and put together their second largest offensive output of the 2008 season. Riverbank went into the halftime intermission tied with the Crusaders 1-1 and poised to make a run at their second victory of the TVL season.

The Lady Bruins were outscored over the final 40 minutes 4-2, but the team most certainly responded to the challenge, finishing the contest with more than a single goal for only the second time this season.

Kaitlynn Deabenderfer found the back of the net for Riverbank, while teammate Cindy Soto erupted for two goals in the defeat. Riverbank's Alejandra Ramirez finished the contest with an assist to round out Riverbank's scoring.

The Lady Bruins came into the Modesto Christian contest on the heels of a close 3-1 loss to Escalon. Riverbank let a couple of quick ones in early but tallied midway through the first half to make it 2-1.
