Soccer Girls Search For TVL Win

There is no question that the team is playing a better brand of soccer than they have in recent years, yet the Riverbank High soccer team is still in search of its first Trans-Valley League victory.

Riverbank came off of a tough 4-4 tie against Ripon Christian to drop consecutive contests versus Hughson and Ripon High in the Lady Bruins' most recent TVL action.

Hughson came out of the gates in a hurry, blasting home four first half goals and handing the Lady Bruins an even tougher challenge than the squad could have expected.

Riverbank would add two goals over the final 40 minutes of play, but the Huskies did the same, producing a 6-2 Hughson victory.

The Lady Bruins opened play on the season consistently putting the pressure on its opponents and grabbing a victory in just their second contest of the season.

Now the squad has had to deal with the painful lumps of being marred in a horrific three-game road trip that had Riverbank travel to two of the toughest programs in Sac-Joaquin Section Division V soccer.

Riverbank's challenge with returning TVL champion Ripon surely gave the Lady Bruins a glimpse of how talented the hierarchy of the league still remains.

The Indians would net three goals in both periods, while Riverbank was only able to find the back of the net once, producing a 6-1 blowout by the Ripon Indians.

Ripon is clearly a program that the Lady Bruins do not have to hang their heads after losing to. The Indians remain undefeated in TVL action and upped its impressive season mark to 13-0-1.

Riverbank will be on the road in their next action, making the short trek to Salida for a Wednesday, April 1, 4 p.m. contest against the Modesto Christian Crusaders.
