Out of position players did not help the girls soccer fortunes as Riverbank High School lost, 11-0, to Hughson on Wednesday and by 8-0 to Escalon on Friday.
"Escalon got seven goals in the first half. Six of them were slow, rolling balls. We were out of position," said Bruin coach Jim Anderson.
Goalie Erika Fernandez takes a lot of pressure during these games. She was credited with 12 saves for the Hughson game, and another 13 for the Escalon match.
"But Erika was not at her best on Friday. The shots that scored were weak," Anderson said.
The Bruin defensive unit did a good job against Escalon. Sonia Silveira, at center fullback, and Liz Medina-Meza and Jackie Perez, stationed on either side of Silveira, mounted a strong defense during the second half.
"We seem intimidated in offense when facing strong teams. We get chances to shoot but don't follow through," said Anderson.
This week the Bruins hopes will be high as they face Livingston away on Wednesday and Ripon Christian at home on Friday.
Anderson is hoping for return of a girl who was sick for the previous games, to help out.
Livingston has been struggling in the scoring column and Riverbank only lost to them, 5-3 last time. Ripon Christian is the school that Riverbank forced to a 3-3 tie when they tangled in the league's first round.
Riverbank is 0-8-1 in the Trans Valley League.
