Wintry Weather Dampens Spring Sports Schedule
RHS

It was a tough week all around for Bruin athletes, with the on-again, off-again rain pattern getting in the way of baseball and softball practices, and the cancellation of a non-league baseball scrimmage with Johansen for varsity baseball players.

Golf and tennis players had a hard time with wet conditions, too, but the only silver lining was for track and field teams, which could still work out on the artificial surface of the all-weather track at Angelo Novi Stadium.

This week, baseball players were hoping to get in a scrimmage at Turlock Christian High School on Monday, Feb. 18 after The News went to press, and at Big Valley Christian in Modesto on Feb. 20. They’re hoping also to play their first game at home on Friday, Feb. 22 welcoming Patterson.

The Lady Bruin softball team is hoping to see its first action of the season on the road at Davis High School in Modesto on Friday, Feb. 22 as well. They are also scheduled to host Big Valley Christian next Monday, Feb. 25 and Cesar Chavez High School on Feb. 26.

The Co-Ed Tennis Bruins are expecting to get their first taste of competition on Tuesday, Feb. 26, getting ready for the Riverbank Doubles Tournament at home on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 28 and March 1.

Boys golf will have a practice round on Thursday, Feb. 28, at the home course on Jack Tone Road.

Co-Ed Track and Field athletes will be stretching their legs with the Bruin Team Challenge on Thursday, Feb. 21, at home, starting right after school. Next Tuesday, they’ll participate in an inter-squad meet.
