Consecutive losses from three participating members of the Riverbank High wrestling team officially ended the program's 2012-13 season at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championships in Olivehurst on Saturday, Feb. 16. Sophomores Jose Ariza (197 pounds) and Marco Medina (108) and junior Matt Baca (138) were unable to reach the second day of competition or qualify for the SJS Masters championships.

But they didn't go down without a fight.

Ariza twice whipped an eventual Masters qualifier to his back, Medina hung tough against an opponent who has beaten him twice before and Baca nearly pinned a tough opponent from Golden Sierra.

"It was a good experience for all of them," Riverbank coach Gilbert Bargas said on Monday. "They were real positive and they want to come back to that tournament and place."

The divisional championship sends top qualifiers to the Masters, the final stop before the State Meet.
