Sign-ups for Riverbank Youth Baseball and Softball teams finished this past weekend, while team evaluations and drafts will happen this coming weekend, weather permitting.

Families and players lined up outside the snack bar at Castleberg Park to pay fees and sign on the dotted line for the upcoming season. And they didn’t let a little rain deter them.

Baseball evaluations will be held on the south field on Saturday, Feb. 9 with softball tryouts held on the north field. They’ll be followed by team drafts.

On the baseball diamond, Rookies, 7 and 8 years old, try out at 11:45 a.m. with the draft starting at 1:30 p.m.

The Minors, 9- and 10-year-olds, start at 1:15 p.m. and draft at 3 p.m. Majors, 11 and 12, start at 2:30 p.m., with their draft coming at 4:15 p.m.

The Pony team tryouts, for the 13- to 15-year-olds, will be held after the High School teams are announced.

On the softball field, 8 and Under starts at 12:45 p.m., with the draft at 2:15 p.m. The 10 and Under division starts workouts at 1:45 p.m., with their draft at 3:45 p.m., while the 12 and Under players start at 2:45 p.m. and get drafted at 4:45 p.m.

Opening day is scheduled for Saturday, March 23, with the line-up for the parade starting at 9 a.m. at the Community Center Park, with the first pitch ceremony following at Castleberg Park.
