MJC Spring String Recital April 6

Modesto Junior College presents a Spring String Recital on Friday, April 6 at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall – Music 108 on the East Campus, 435 College Ave., Modesto. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted. Campus parking is free for the evening.

The community is invited to enjoy this evening of string music.

The program features the students of Anne Martin, director of orchestra and strings at MJC, performing solo works by Bach, Brahms, Dvorak, Faure, Haydn, Morley, Newbold, and Perlman. The program opens with the Elementary Strings Class playing the “Indian Lament,” “Mari’s Wedding,” and “Boil that Cabbage Down.”

The String Orchestra will present works by Bach, Haydn, Morley, and Newbold.

Solo works on the program also include Monti’s “Czardas,” Dancla’s “Variations on a Theme by Weigl,” “Sicilienne” by Maria-Theresia von Paradis and a “Nocturne” by Lili Boulanger. Pianist, Janisse Foresti will accompany the students.
