Graduation, Promotion Ceremonies Upcoming

It is a week full of Pomp and Circumstance for the City of Action, as several Riverbank area schools get ready to present diplomas and certificates to graduates. Some will move on to the next level in their school career, while others will be tossing their mortarboard skyward and head out to the work world, college and life after high school.

Adelante High School will have graduation ceremonies this evening, Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ray Fauria Gym on the campus of Riverbank High School.

Riverbank Language Academy will have a ceremony on Thursday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Rio Altura Multipurpose Room.

On Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m., Cardozo Middle School will be hosting Promotion ceremonies for their students outside on the black top. There are 169 students that will be promoted, making the transition from eighth grade to high school. Tickets are not required and seating is on a first come first serve basis at the Cardozo ceremony. Valedictorian, Joslyn Beliera and Salutatorian, Samuel Endsley will each be giving a speech. Select students will receive scholarships and academic achievement awards. Student Body President, Christian Bolanos will also be giving some farewell remarks and the students will be moving forward to High School.

Finally, the Class of 2013 at Riverbank High School will be having its graduation ceremony on Friday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fauria Gym. They are expecting approximately 140 graduates for the senior class. This year, Salutatorian Luis Solorio and Valedictorians, Tori Sandoval, Sarah Do, and Joaquin Felix will all be sharing a speech with the guests at the graduation. There will also be some special entertainment and recognition for graduates as part of the Friday night festivities. Earning the award for Best Senior Project was Salutatorian Sarah Do, who showcased her artistic ability and also put on a one-woman art show as part of her project. The seniors presented their projects to judges this past week, culminating the year-long process.
