The final weekend for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” was a success with the final three shows having a sellout crowd. The drama club will be performing the production for the sophomore class since it is required curriculum, according to Stacy Bauer, Riverbank High School drama teacher.

“The audiences were outstanding,” stated Bauer. “They laughed and interacted with the performance. My students were so excited by these great responses to the show.”

Jacob Raper who played Bottom had the standout performance and was hilarious, explained Bauer. Senior Aleah Arauza and her band of fairies were also great. “Aleah was commanding and shrewd and played silly to perfection,” said Bauer. “Alex Ortiz was another standout performer as he came alive in his pink dress and blonde wig. He captured the essence of the scene perfectly.”

The Joe Awards will be held on Thursday, April 30 which is an “Oscar” style event where the students pick their favorites for special awards and the patches for club service are dispersed, Bauer noted.

“We create little honey bear statues for the student winners,” she said. “It is a fun night.

“The show was great.”
