The second edition of Food Truck Friday on May 10 was a success, building off the large crowd that turned out on May 3 for the first of five consecutive events in May.
Designed to bring the community together to kick off the weekend with some good food and relaxing fun, the array of food trucks roll in to the Riverbank Sports Complex for a few hours. Formal time for Food Truck Fridays is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This past Friday night featured cooling beverages and more to help beat the local heat, as temperatures were on the rise last week. In addition to a mobile lemonade stand, there was shaved ice, and even an ice cream truck to help participants stay cool throughout the evening. There will be three more occasions to attend, through the end of May. This past week, the number of participating vendors rose from the first installment, along with the attending crowd, climbing to eight trucks and even more food booths scattered across the parking lot.
The Riverbank Sports Complex is on Morrill Road and Food Truck Fridays are hosted by the Riverbank Parks and Recreation Department. Upcoming dates are May 17, 24 and 31.
Youngsters enjoyed the opportunity to purchase treats from a van featuring ice cream products this past Friday, while food including tacos, tamales, burritos and even pizza were sold from both trucks and trailers, as well as ‘pop up’ booths.
