Over the past few weeks, many people in the region have become aware of the recent resignations of Oak Valley Hospital District board members, Dr. Edward Chock and local businesswoman Fran Krieger. Both Dr. Chock and Krieger served on the Board of Directors with distinction, said OVHD officials, but resigned from their positions due to a new zoning system that requires at least one board member from each zone to serve on the OVHD Board of Directors.
Dan Cummins, OVHD Board Chairperson noted, “Because of this new system, we have to select two new members that reside within the designated zones, zones 1 and 3 and that is the only reason that Dr. Chock and Fran had to resign from their positions. Dr. Chock is not retiring and he will continue to practice medicine at Oak Valley Hospital. Both Fran and Dr. Chock will be greatly missed and we all appreciate the hard work and service they have provided during their terms on the Board of Directors.”
The two districts that now require representation on the board include an area that extends from Claribel Road out to Valley Home and an area that encompasses the community of Waterford and its neighbors to the East including Roberts Ferry.
This past week, one of the positions was filled, as the OVHD board welcomed Billie Scott, a long time Oakdale resident and a former OVHD employee, to serve on the board. After learning of the two vacancies, Scott submitted a letter of interest to the board in which she expressed her deep admiration for Oak Valley Hospital and the community it serves. Scott began her medical career at Oak Valley Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant before continuing her career at Bethel Retirement Community for many years. Scott currently works in Community Outreach and Marketing for Central Valley Hearing Aid Healthcare and is the President of the Stanislaus Senior Foundation.
“I love this community and I am so thankful that I can serve them. Oakdale is our home and I am proud to join this board to help others and remind everyone that we have access to great healthcare right here in our own town,” said Scott.
Moving forward, Scott will serve as board secretary, Danielle Sanders will serve as vice chairperson and Sara West-Shipman will serve as the finance chairperson on the board, with Cummins continuing to serve as the chairperson.
With the addition of Scott to the hospital board, representing the district that spans Claribel Road to Valley Home, the board has just one more spot to fill and they are currently searching for a representative to serve the zone that encompasses Waterford and its neighbors to the East. Potential candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest to Oak Valley Hospital District, 350 S. Oak Ave., Oakdale, CA 95361. Direct it to the attention of Matt Heyn, Chief Executive Officer. Letters of Interest should include the following: name, physical address, summary of professional background (résumé optional) and the reasons for wanting to become a board member.
