This is the Wall of Honor that makes up part of the walls that line the inside of American Veterans First in Riverbank. Names listed are of those that were killed in action. The local AVF is currently fundraising to assist homeless female veterans. VIRGINIA STILL/THE NEWS

The homeless population seems to be growing in the Central Valley and among those especially being impacted are female veterans. American Veterans First (AVF) in Riverbank saw a need to reach out and help those women veterans that are homeless and are without basic necessities, including feminine products. Put yourself in their place and imagine not being able to afford feminine hygiene supplies. It is a problem many homeless women face.

American Veterans First is currently conducting a fundraiser to help fill the needs of these homeless female veterans. They are planning to offer a variety of products that will be placed in a fabric zipper pouch that the women can carry with dignity.

The community is invited to donate $15, which will supply one large zipper pouch filled with enough feminine supplies to last one to three months. For those unable to donate the full $15, donations in any amount will be gratefully accepted for this worthwhile cause. Donations can be made with PayPal at Americanveteransfirst16@gmail.com or by check to American Veterans First, sent to P.O. Box 344, Riverbank, CA 95367. Donations are tax deductible.
