In this month’s look back, items are taken from the March 23, 1983 issue. The 35-years-ago items range from the impact of wet weather on the region to some of the advertisements included in The News. At the time, a one-year subscription in Stanislaus County cost $8 while senior citizens and servicemen paid a reduced rate of $5.50 for a year. Publisher was Stanley L. Cook and Cathy Locke served as the editor.
