Winter Homecoming for Riverbank High School 2020 is this week although the weeklong celebration is a little later than usual during basketball season. Monday was also a school holiday so the festivities began on Tuesday.

The 2020 theme is “Welcome to the Bruin Jam” and the short week will be filled with spirit days, lunch time activities, high school royalty and a Homecoming game.

The Queen candidates for this year’s Winter Homecoming are Mikayla Macias, Anastasia Toscano, Samantha Villanueva, Nazie Noory, and Lupita Ruiz. The King candidates are Ty Luu, Julian Barajas, Bryce Martin, Abel Bravo, and Ricardo Gomez. The queen and king will be announced at the basketball game on Friday night, Feb. 14.

Since Monday was a holiday for RHS the dress days started on Tuesday with Retro 90’s day for the day’s theme of “Jam to the past.” Musical chairs is on the agenda for the lunch time activity.

On Wednesday, Loony Day, to show their school spirit students are asked to dress like a Looney Tunes character and/or crazy hair and socks. Students can participate in the lunch time activity where they will guess the number of candies in a jar.

“Get your head in the game” is the theme for Thursday and students can participate by wearing Lakers gear. The lunch time activity is Balloon Blowout.

To wrap up the festivities students are asked to wear neon colors on Friday for Kobe and Gigi Day. Freshmen have green neon, sophomores have orange, juniors are assigned yellow, and seniors are asked to wear neon pink. During lunch they will have a friendly game of tug of war to enjoy.

Students will receive points for their participation in the dress days for a class competition as well.
