Another new business opened up in the City of Action on Friday, March 4 and members of the community were invited to take part in the festivities. Cricket Wireless has opened its newest store in Riverbank at 2119 Patterson Road.

The Riverbank Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. on Friday where Hwa Schlitz, President of the Riverbank location, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the opening of Cricket Wireless to the public.

Mayor Richard O’Brien, councilmember Darlene Barber-Martinez, chamber members, and residents were at the grand opening to show support for the new business.

There were refreshments provided including sandwiches, Aram rolls, popcorn, cookies, water, and soda.

Cricket personnel passed out goodie bags to all the attendees and Roxanne Held, Grassroots Marketing Representative gave a speech to guests thanking them for being there.

“I found an opportunity in this town that we needed growth here and I thought it was a great place to put a Cricket Wireless location,” stated Schlitz. “I see opportunity as far as just the community I heard that it was very welcoming and it’s very tight knit and within the last 45 days I have personally seen that.”

Cricket is a nationwide 4G LTE wireless network that provides unlimited talk, text, and data with no annual contract. They offer three prices of $40, $50, and $60 along with a discount for customers that use auto pay.

“We think we stand out that way in terms of not only offering great prepaid service but then you don’t have to compromise the network and I think that is where we really stand out,” added Held. “We feel as Cricket Wireless we are nothing unless we know and understand the people which we serve. We are really excited.”

The Mayor welcomed the new business and presented Schlitz with a certificate.

The store is open seven days a week.
