The Riverbank Library celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a party that included two activities, crafts, and birthday cake. The Friends of the Riverbank Library provided the cake for the celebration last Tuesday.

“The Dr. Seuss Party was a lot of fun,” Librarian Vicky Holt shared. “Several parent friends came together so it was a nice time of visiting for both parents and children. I noticed the kids enjoyed the games the most.”

There were about 26 people including 20 kids that took part in the celebration. The ring toss was in the shape of the Cat in the Hat’s hat and they played a fishing game that gave participants a chance to win prizes. Kids decorated a sock and they made their very own “Whoville” from the book Horton Hears a Who for the crafts. They sang Happy Birthday prior to cutting the cake.

The party was held on March 3 at the Riverbank branch and was free to youth in the community.

“The Library enjoys celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday because it highlights the importance of learning and loving to read,” said Holt.

There are many activities held at the library that are free to families like the upcoming Art Lab on Tuesday, March 17 at 3:30 p.m.
