FULL MOON FRIDAY
Full Moon

Fans attending the Riverbank High School game got to celebrate a Football Friday Night Full Moon, a Harvest Moon, in Tracy this past week. It rose over the field during the varsity game, after sunset. It is the first time the Harvest Moon has occurred on lucky Friday the 13th since 1988. Harvest Moon is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox, this year occurring on Monday, Sept. 23, the first day of fall. The equinox is when the sun crosses the earth’s equator, making day and night approximately equal in length. It is a so-called ‘Harvest’ Moon because it affords more illumination in the evenings for the fall harvest.
