Groups Get On Board For Crab Feed Season
DSC 2035

‘Tis the season for crab feeds, with several scattered around the area next month. Local organizations here in Riverbank are taking advantage, with fundraising efforts based upon the succulent meal choice.

Featuring live music and dancing, the Central Valley Community Resources Second Annual Crab Feed is set for Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Riverbank Community Center, 3600 Santa Fe St., in downtown Riverbank.

Officials say the menu features Caribbean Style Crab, Jambalaya Rice, cornbread and much more. They promise an alternate will be available for those who want to support the group but don’t particularly like crab.

The evening features a silent auction at 4 p.m., with dinner scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Also planned is live music and dancing afterwards. Music will be provided by Combo Puerto Rico.

Single tickets will be $50 each, or $90 per couple. A table of eight can be sponsored for $380, which includes a complimentary bucket of beer, or a bottle of wine.

Organizers note the Resource Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization, with tickets available by calling 896-3055.

Meanwhile, the Bruin Booster group will host their Crab Feed, on Saturday, Feb. 24, also at the Community Center.

And they’re doing things “a little differently this year,” officials said.

There will be a new early bird session, for those who just want to eat and go, and not be involved in the party scene later. Tickets for this early session are a little cheaper, at $40 for a single and $70 for a couple.

Boosters say they’ll only offer tickets individually, with table sales not available. This early bird session will be offered from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Then the late session starts at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m. Drawings and dancing will follow the dinner hour.

Tables will be available for the evening session, at $375 for eight, with singles priced at $50 each and couples at $90.

Also, the Boosters menu will vary just a bit, with all-you-can-eat crab or tri-tip, with baked potatoes and all the fixings, and salad, rolls and dessert.

Tickets are available at the Bruin’s Den Snack Bar in the lobby of the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium on the Riverbank High School campus, when the Youth Basketball Clinic plays there on Saturday mornings, and during RHS home basketball games.
