The Riverbank Library, with help from the Friends of the Riverbank Library organization, brings the community a variety of free crafts, fun learning and reading for all ages each month. Although Christmas is only a few weeks away and the library will be closed then, there will be a few fun festive activities prior to the holiday closure that could be utilized as possible gift ideas.

On Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 3:30 p.m. the library offered a Gingerbread Man Ornament Craft, the ornament made of salt dough and the program sponsored by the Friends of the Riverbank Library at no cost and supplies provided.

Give your home some whimsical charm with the cute gnomes made from wine corks on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 3:30 p.m.

Every second Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. the Friends of the Riverbank Library meet and the public is welcomed to attend to show their support for the local library.

Guests are invited to share their love for books at the Riverbank Library Book Club on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. to discuss Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear. Book clubs allow community members to expand their knowledge of books through meaningful discussions with others.

Juana Chavez and her daughter Julia participated in last month’s Art Lab where they created intricate designs in an array of colors. Chavez added that the crafts and activities at the Riverbank Library are fun for all ages as both mother and daughter enjoyed using the Spirographs. Chavez said the monthly activities at the local library branch are also very well organized.

The Riverbank Library will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25.
