Community members are encouraged to participate in Love Riverbank on Saturday, April 29; the event will begin in front of the Community Center in Riverbank with a rally to commence the day of service at 8 a.m. VIRGINIA STILL/THE NEWS

On Saturday, April 29 the kickoff rally for this year’s edition of ‘Love Riverbank’ will be held at the Riverbank Community Center, 3600 Santa Fe, starting at 8 a.m.

This is one day set aside for local residents to join together and take part in a day of service to beautify and improve their community.

Interested parties can sign up for a project that day or prior to that on the LoveRiverbank.com website, where they can also donate to the cause. The service projects will begin promptly after the rally and will last until about 12:30 p.m.

The project list is not long; however, there are several spots available and waiting for volunteers to help fill them. These are the items on the ‘to do’ list for the Saturday of service: baking for public servants, alley clean-up, Jacob Myers Park clean-up, senior citizen assistance, floaters to work where/as needed; and beautification of Cardozo Middle School along with the surrounding area adjacent to the school.

Sign up for a project at loveriverbank.com. You can also email drodriguez5465@gmail.com if you are interested in donating, leading a project or helping with other event needs, or simply want more information.

A number of communities around the Central Valley had their ‘Love’ events earlier this month, but Riverbank opted to postpone it until the final Saturday of April and will gather for the volunteer effort this weekend.
